Xbox 360 Towel Trick
Materials:
- Large Towel
- Your Xbox 360
Steps:
- Wrap your large towel around the Xbox 360, and be sure that no heat can escape
- Plug in the power cord, and tighten it's hole
- Turn the Xbox 360 on for 10 minutes only!
- Take it out, and hope it starts!
Warning:
Wrapping a towel around your Xbox so that it gets hot enough to melt and maybe join some broken solder joints will also bake the internal chips. Baked silicon chips in Xboxes are very bad, and the life of your Xbox 360 will not last long..
Even if you pull this off without damaging the chips, the fix is only temporary in most cases. So there's not much to gain from this technique, but probably a few more days of play!

Xbox 360 Heat Sink Cleaning Fix
i did the thermal paste fix on the heat sinks, as well as the penny trick for the cpu;gpu units on the other side oppisite the heats sinks. everything worked fantastic, RROD went away and never returned.....until i bought and started playing modern warfare 2. it plays great on live, and the campaign part was working great until i hit the level "wolverines" then it kicked up the rrod again. i turn it back on and it goes away, unless i hit that certain level. every other game, as well as every other level works great, but it won't let me past that one level. then i caved in and bought the guide, it seemed to do a little better job then the tuts i followed on youtube, worth the price. thanks , Doug in Maine
Having playing that level myself, it is the most graphic intensive level out there. The GPU, aswell as the CPU are working extra hard to process all the information. The most I could tell you after you having fixed the heatsink problems is keep it as cool as possible. If that doesn't work you can either try out a guide (money back for 60 days if it doesn't work) or send it in for 140$ to MS to get a new one (even if the warranty expired).
